Background

Nulli Secundus was founded in 1986 and is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We provide superior consulting services in Human Resource Management Systems and Identity Management Solutions. We are technically solid and understand the business of Human Resource Management in large corporations and government institutions. When we began our partnership with PeopleSoft in 1989, we realized the client server architecture would provide a dramatic change in the way that Human Resources Systems would be used. This partnership has been mutually very successful. We have provided consultants directly to PeopleSoft to develop new features for their application and to provide detailed analysis and recommendations on trends in the industry that affect their applications.

Keeping ahead of the curve on behalf of our customers is one of our key objectives. When Identity Management became of interest to corporations in early 2000 Nulli Secundus was well positioned to assist them having already worked in the field for two years. Compliance driven business processes that document "who was where" and "who had access to what, and when did they have access" has become critical business objectives for corporations. We now assist organizations with how they can comply with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and other governance requirements.

Because of our work with the web-access applications such as the Oracle COREid product line, we have developed a niche of expertise in Identity Management applications and implementation.

Implementing an Identity Management application is a perfect extension of the PeopleSoft Human Capital Management and Customer Relationship Management Products in that it brings together all the services and resource information used by employees, contractors, customers, and partners into common enterprise directory.

Web Access Management (WAM) or Single Sign On (SSO) applications provide the glue and the easy of use applications for leveraging this central repository of people profile data for organizations. They enable the delegation of the administration of each element of information to the end-user. Control of the data is managed through the use of profile and policy based web-site security. With application security, trusted delegation, user self-service and user provisioning/de-provisioning, Identity Management solves the problem of managing ever-changing user information in a way that is secure, manageable, and scalable.

 

 

Our Founder: Derek Small

Derek Small - Our Founder

In 1989, Derek signed a partnering agreement with Dave Duffield, founder and Chairman of PeopleSoft making Derek one of the earliest of the "early adopters" of the PeopleSoft technology and applications. In 1998, Derek recognised the importance of LDAP directory technologies to provide companies a unified source of identity data that became the foundations for Web Access Management (WAM) and Identity Management (IdM) applications.

Focused on providing strategic guidance to companies in the areas of identity management and privacy compliance, Derek works with clients by providing strategic analysis, educational presentations, white papers and facilitating working sessions.

Derek holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) degree from the University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Derek is a member of the PeopleTools Advisory Committee.
